Introducing Our Executive Director: Diedra Stewart
Strategic Leadership for a Stronger, More Compassionate Los Angeles
With over two decades of leadership experience in affordable housing And community development, Diedra Stewart steps into her role as Executive Director of the Better Living Project with a proven record of transforming complex housing systems into sustainable pathways for human progress.
As a strategic and results-driven property management executive, Diedra has successfully overseen large-scale portfolios encompassing Section 42 LIHTC, HUD, and Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) communities across the Greater Los Angeles region. Her career is distinguished by deep expertise in affordable housing compliance (LIHTC, HUD, PBCA), asset optimization, budget and financial analysis, and components to achieving measurable community impact.
Experience Rooted in Impact
During her tenure with A Community of Friends (ACOF) from 2012 to 2023, Diedra served as Assistant/Interim Director of Property Management, leading operational oversight for a 48-property portfolio serving homeless and formerly homeless residents. Managing a $15 million annual operating budget and a staff of 30+ professionals, she built strategic alliances with housing agencies, investors, and service providers to ensure that every property functioned not only as a structure but as a foundation for stability and renewal.
Her leadership at ACOF reflected a balance of compassion and business acumen-skills that allowed her to align operational goals with social mission outcomes.
